Master luthier and guitar designer Andy Powers has redesigned the 500 series grand auditorium model with a host of woods and features. In the spirit of forging pathways in tonal possibilities, Taylor is proud to introduce urban ironbark, or red ironbark, as the wood for the back and sides for the 517e. Sourced through Taylor's urban wood initiative, urban iron bark is destined to become a favorite among guitar players. Iron bark is dense, like ebony, and captures the sonic depth of rosewood accelerated to great heights. When paired with the torrefied Sitka Spruce top, you get a sound that is loud yet sweet with piano like fidelity and complexity.
