Get my Guitar found the latest prices on the Martin D-35 Left-Handed Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Natural.
"The Martin D-35 dreadnought acoustic guitar was birthed in the folk music boom of the 1960s. Designed in 1965, the D-35 was created because Martin was experiencing a shortage of rosewood wide enough to build their famous D-28. Known for its three-piece back, with a contrasting center wedge, the D-35 quickly caught on with musicians that preferred the cosmetic look of a three-piece back. Along with the cosmetic changes to the appearance, the D-35 offered a different sound and tone to the famous D-28.Constructed with 1/4” bracing, the original D-35 had a slight bump in the bottom end when compared to the stiffer 5/16” bracing of the D-28. Over time players really began to latch on to the tonal variation, and as a result, the D-35 quickly became an industry standard among players and collectors alike. Vintage Tone Meets Modern PlayabilityToday, this D-35 Left-Handed Dreadnought has been refined to combine the best of the vintage 1930's appointments with the playability of a modern guitar. Like the D-35 from the 1960s, the bracing is 1/4"" in thickness, but the placement ofthe X brace has been forward shifted to be located one inch from the soundhole. Now, the D-35 Left-Handed acoustic has a very even bass, with just the right blend of the mid and high-end frequencies. The sound is everything you would expect from a fine-tuned Martin acoustic guitar. Playability Playability has been dramatically improved by changing the neck to a modified low oval, with a Performing Artist taper and 1-3/4"" nut. The wider string spacing and comfortable neck profile allow a player to move up and down the neck with ease. And unlike the more traditional acoustic guitars of the past, the D-35 left-handed acoustic will have that vintage tone, with a feel that will be similar to that of an electric guitar. Other AppointmentsAlong with an amazing sound and feel, the D-35 Left-Handed features a solid spruce top, solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, ebony bridge and fingerboard, hand-fit dovetail neck joint, nitrocellulose lacquer, mother-of-pearl fingerboard inlay pattern, antique white binding, aging toner, bone nut and saddle and a hardshell case. The Martin D-42 Modern Deluxe acoustic guitar is a perfect blend of old and new, fusing classic craftmanship with cutting-edge technology. Spec'd in spruce, it has an aged Sitka soundboard supported by Adirondack X-bracing. This D-42 is voiced like a golden-era Martin, but veers from history with a carbon fiber bridge plate and contemporary neck. Decked out with gold, abalone and mother of pearl, the D-42 acoustic is just as striking visually as it is sonically. Read on to discover if the Martin Modern Deluxe has what it takes to become your favorite flattop. A new guitar that sounds oldMartin ages the Sitka spruce top on this dreadnought acoustic using its Vintage Tone System (VTS). By heating the tonewood at a high temperature—a process known as torrefaction—the soundboard becomes molecularly similar to one from the 1930s. You'll hear it ring with more resonance. The Adirondack spruce braces are also aged; they're arranged in a forward-shifted pattern to increase the low-end response. Rosewood back and sides produce complex overtones with a bright top end. Upscale appointmentsStyle 42 Martin guitars are the penultimate in terms of bling—only the D-45 is higher in ornamentation. On the D-42, that translates to European flame maple binding, plus the same flame with a multi-stripe inlay on the ebony fingerboard. Fretboard markers are Golden Era snowflakes in abalone and mother of pearl; the motherlode continues with the headstock torch inlay and '30s-style Martin script logo. Gold EVO frets compliment the gold, open-geared butterbean tuners, a crowning touch for a regal instrument. Modern updatesThe neck profile on the Modern Deluxe D-42 is based on an extremely rare acoustic in the company's archives—a 1930 OM-45 Deluxe. That historic guitar has a slight asymmetrical neck shape that's surprisingly contemporary, making it a perfect fit for the D-42. The High Performance Taper on the ebony fingerboard contributes to a fast, comfortable playing experience. Martin adds a carbon fiber bridge plate that's stronger than maple for more projection and sustain. Liquidmetal bridge pins boost the output by 3dB to 5dB. Other features include a tortoise-patterned pickguard, plus a bone nut and saddle. The Martin D-42 Modern Deluxe comes with a hardshell case. "The Martin D-45 Standard Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar brings coveted vintage tone to today's players. Martin's flagship dreadnought, the D-45 is crafted using premium materials and time-honored techniques, now with innovative updates for effortless playability. The solid spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides are paired with scalloped ""X"" bracing, producing a punchy low end, shimmering highs and rich overtones reminiscent of 1930s Martins. The modified low-oval neck has a slimmer taper and 1-3/4"" nut for comfortable fretting. Whether recording or performing, the D-45 Standard dreadnought delivers iconic tone with modern precision. Scalloped ""X"" Bracing Provides Golden Era Sound At the heart of the D-45 Standard's vintage tone is forward-shifted scalloped ""X"" bracing, found on Martins from 1931 to 1939. This bracing pattern gives dreadnoughts like the D-18, D-28 and original D-45 a warm, balanced tone with articulate bass and crisp treble. Highly prized by musicians and collectors, scalloped ""X""-braced Martins are renowned for their clear, punchy sound. The D-45 Standard brings this coveted tonewood combination and bracing pattern together, recreating the iconic sound of 1930s dreadnoughts. Premium Solid Tonewoods Age GracefullyAs with any premium Martin, the D-45 Standard's solid spruce top and rosewood back and sides improve with age and playing time. The spruce top opens up, producing richer overtones and enhanced resonance and the rosewood gains warmth and depth. Martin's dovetail neck joint, where the neck meets the body, provides strength and stability as the tonewoods age. Every strum and chord played on the D-45 Standard helps the instrument reach its full tonal potential. Antique Appointments and Aged Toner Finish To complement its vintage-inspired tone, the D-45 Standard dreadnought features antique appointments like butterbean gold tuners, 45-style pearl inlay and an aged toner finish. The aged toner finish gives the guitar a worn-in, prewar look while allowing the tonewoods to breathe and resonate freely. Ebony accents, like the fingerboard and bridge, provide crisp note articulation. With premium tonewoods, scalloped bracing and antique visuals, the D-45 Standard delivers coveted prewar style and sound.
