Unlike traditional X-bracing, V-Class bracing improves both the flexibility and stiffness of the top, resulting in louder projection, longer sustain, and more accurate intonation. This innovation allows chords to ring out with a consistent harmonic richness while ensuring individual notes remain clear and defined, even in complex arrangements. The enhanced sustain and tonal purity make it easier to achieve a professional-quality sound, whether you're performing live or recording in the studio. Get my Guitar found the latest prices on the Martin D-35 Standard Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Aged Toner.
The Martin D-35 dreadnought acoustic guitar was birthed in the folk music boom of the 1960s. Designed in 1965, the D-35 was created because Martin was experiencing a shortage of rosewood wide enough to build their famous D-28. Known for its three-piece back, with a contrasting center wedge, the D-35 quickly caught on with musicians that preferred the cosmetic look of a three-piece back. Along with the cosmetic changes to the appearance, the D-35 offered a different sound and tone to the famous D-28.Constructed with 1/4” bracing, the D-35 had a slight bump in the bottom end when compared to the stiffer 5/16” bracing of the D-28. Over time players really began to latch on to the tonal variation, and as a result, the D-35 quickly became an industry standard among players and collectors alike. Vintage Tone Meets Modern PlayabilityToday, the D-35 Standard Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar has been refined to combine the best of the vintage 1930's appointments, with the playability of a modern guitar. Like the D-35 from the 1960s, the bracing is 1/4” in thickness, but the placement ofthe X brace has been forward-shifted to be located one inch from the soundhole. Now, the D-35 Standard has a very even bass, with just the right blend of the mid and high-end frequencies. The sound is everything you would expect from a fine-tuned Martin acoustic guitar. Playability Playability has been dramatically improved by changing the neck to a modified low oval, with a Performing Artist taper and 1-3/4” nut. The wider string spacing and comfortable neck profile allow a player to move up and down the neck with ease. And, unlike the more traditional feeling acoustic guitars of the past, newer D-35 Standard models will have familiar vintage tone with a playing feel that will be more similar to that of an electric guitar. Other AppointmentsAlong with an amazing sound and feel, this D-35 Standard Dreadnought acoustic features a solid spruce top, solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, ebony bridge and fingerboard, hand-fit dovetail neck joint, nitrocellulose lacquer, mother-of-pearl fingerboard inlay pattern, antique white binding, aging toner, and a bone nut and saddle. This innovation allows chords to ring out with a consistent harmonic richness while ensuring individual notes remain clear and defined, even in complex arrangements. The enhanced sustain and tonal purity make it easier to achieve a professional-quality sound, whether you're performing live or recording in the studio. With V-Class bracing, this guitar delivers a dynamic and resonant playing experience that inspires creativity. Acoustic Electric Guitar With Taylor ES2 Electronics For Natural AmplificationThe Expression System 2 (ES2) pickup captures the full tonal character of this acoustic-electric guitar with remarkable accuracy. Positioned behind the saddle, the three calibrated sensors ensure optimal contact with the bridge, allowing the natural resonance of the instrument to shine through. Paired with an active preamp featuring volume, bass, and treble controls, the ES2 system provides a clean, balanced amplified tone that faithfully reproduces the guitar's acoustic voice. An onboard phase switch helps to minimize feedback in live settings, making this model equally suited for stage and studio use. Whether plugged into a PA system or an acoustic amplifier, the ES2 delivers consistent, high-quality sound in any environment. The Taylor 815e Legacy Jumbo acoustic-electric guitar is part of Taylor's exclusive Legacy Collection, created to celebrate the brand's 50th anniversary. This jumbo body guitar, inspired by Bob Taylor's early rosewood/spruce 800 Series models, features a solid Sitka spruce top and solid Indian rosewood back and sides, offering a powerful, full-range acoustic voice with complex overtones. X-Bracing and Sitka Spruce for Powerful ProjectionDesigned with Taylor's advanced X-bracing pattern, the 815e Legacy enhances the guitar's projection and sustain. The solid Sitka spruce top offers a blend of stiffness and elasticity that creates a broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Whether strumming or picking, this guitar's large body and bracing work together to produce deep lows, clear mids, and sparkling highs, making it a perfect choice for players seeking volume and clarity in their performance. Rosewood Back and Sides for Rich, Full-Range ToneThe solid Indian rosewood back and sides contribute to the guitar's powerful low-end response and shimmering highs. Known for its sweeping frequency range, rosewood produces deep, throaty lows and bell-like clarity in the treble, while maintaining a slightly scooped midrange. This results in a rich, full-spectrum sound with extended sustain, making the 815e an excellent choice for players who require a dynamic tonal range. Vintage-Inspired Design With Modern PlayabilityThe 815e features several design elements inspired by Bob Taylor's early guitars, including a vintage straight-ear peghead shape with a rosewood veneer and a mustache-style bridge. The clean, simple appointments—such as large mother-of-pearl diamond inlays, faux tortoise pickguard and white plastic binding—are reminiscent of Taylor's early 800 Series models. However, the guitar also incorporates Taylor's patented neck, providing superior adjustability and smooth playability for the modern guitarist. Exclusive Legacy LabelAs part of the Legacy Collection, inside the body, you'll find a special Legacy label, signifying its unique place in Taylor's 50-year history.
